PROFILE

J/Newbold Associates was founded in 1992 by Joanne Newbold after extensive previous experience with prestigious design and architectural firms.

As VP/Design Director of Walker Group/CNI Inc (at that time the largest store designers in the world,) she was responsible for domestic and overseas corporate and retail projects, including clients A&W Restaurants, the Rouse Company, Burdines, and LaSalle Partners.

Prior to Walker Group/CNI Inc, she was Senior Designer at Davis Brody and Associates in New York City. Projects included a 500,000 sq ft administration center for Philip Morris USA, as well as award-winning auditorium conference center for TIME Inc.

Joanne earned a degree in Environmental Design from Parsons School of Design and the New School in New York City. She is a Professional member of the Retail Design Institute. Her firm's work has been recognized with awards from VM&SD Magazine, BusinessWeek, Chain Store Age, Shopping Center World, and the National Association of Store Fixture Manufacturers.

Her work has been published in numerous publications including Interior Design, Architectural Record, and The New York Times.

In 2007 Joanne was chosen by the Institute of Store Planners for the Retail Design Legion of Honor Award, a recognition of professional design achievement which has influenced and shaped retailing, store design and the design culture in general.
